DESCRIPTION: Steering Column, Floor Shift, Non-Tilt APPLICATION(S): Camaro YEAR(S): 1967 MATERIAL: Various TYPE OF PART (REPRO OR GM ORIGINAL): GM Original CONDITION (NEW, USED, CONCOURS RESTORED): Concours Restored FINISH: Various GM PART NUMBER REFERENCE(S): N/A FACTORY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL REFERENCE: N/A SKU: NOS-1021 Includes 33 total piece(s). This assembly includes a fully restored orginal GM floor shift non-tilt steering colum, which has been disassembled, inspected to confirm there is no collapse, and refinished in correct sheens of low and high gloss satin black using automotive epoxy primers to ensure corrosion prevention. All damaged, worn, or defective bearings are replaced, and all spacer, spring, and washer hardware is cleaned, replated, and/or reconditioned. During reassembly, a new NOS GM turn signal switch is installed and switch packaging accompanies the unit. The proper 9 pin delco shell connector is installed eliminating the need for an adapter harness, and all wire and lower unit covers are sourced and installed. For ease of use, this assembly also comes with the following concours quality items: For the lower section of the column: Refinished GM column to dash cradle bracket with aluminum pucks, with mounting hardware including housing screws, cover screws and GM aluminum adjustment shim, Refinsihed GM firewall to column bracket pair, including assembly hardware, and new weatherseal, Accurately reproduced lower column to firewall rubber boot. For the upper section of the column: A GM turn signal lever with a new black untextured knob, a hazard warning switch knob (67 unless a 68 knob is requested), a set of dust shields for the turn signal switch and turn signal arm lever, a bearing preload spring, a steering wheel nut and washer, and a rare GM 3900512 cancelling cam with horn contact installed. Restorers note: The turn signal switch is supplied by GM with a self tapping turn signal lever screw. If fitted this screw will actually bottom out and strip the screw threads out of the switch if over tightened. The installed switch has been tapped by hand and fitted with a standard screw, washer and lock washer, to allow for proper tightening, distribution of force, and to retain tension on the lever throughout use. On a related note, most switches are cracked at the lever mounting position. The reproduction levers are too wide for the channel on a GM switch and when tightened put undue pressure on the switch causing it to split over time. We use only GM levers, but if a reproduction must be fitted, at a mimimum some filing for proper width at the base is recommended.
