DESCRIPTION: Instrument Cluster APPLICATION(S): Camaro YEAR(S): 1967 MATERIAL: Various TYPE OF PART (REPRO OR GM ORIGINAL): GM Original CONDITION (NEW, USED, CONCOURS RESTORED): Concours Restored FINISH: Various GM PART NUMBER REFERENCE(S): N/A FACTORY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL REFERENCE: N/A SKU: NOS-1028 Includes 1 total piece(s). We have purchased a select number of instrument clusters over the last 30 years. Once disassembled it is easy to identify failed or missing parts, some of which have been removed by prior owners. In order to provide a concours ready assembly the housings are stripped of any rust or corrosion and electroplated with zinc in a process that restores the electrical conductivity and operation of the housing as a ground circuit for all the instruments and lighting. The housing and its bezel are then both repainted with the correct automotive grade finishes, low sheen white for the housing itself, and satin black with mint green on the recessed areas for proper light reflection from the luminescent portions of the gauges. The gauges themselves are then inspected. The fuel gauge is checked for proper operation using a GM fuel sending unit to confirm its accuracy and range of operation is correct. As the face is riveted to this gauge, all corroded units are replaced. The speedometer is disassembled and cleaned. All parts are inspected for wear, odometer reset, and then reassembled with dry graphite lubricants. once rebuilt, the unit is test run on a calibration bench setup using a laser tachometer verified to NIST stanards and fine adjustments are made to the clockspring mechanism for accuracy at 1000 revolutions per minute equalling 60 mph. The units which do not pass because they have been tampered with or have a magnetic failure can in rare circumstances be degaused and remagnetized but are typically replaced. Once the speedometer is reassembled, all pointer needles are repainted in correct flourescent orange. The gauges are then reinstalled in the housing with new warning light gaskets and speedometer gaskets we reproduce in house. An original, dated GM circuit card is then tested and installed with replated original hardware including fuel gauge resistor and insulator. All light bulbs are replaced and sockets are sourced, cleaned, and tested, including the commonly missing and rare round lower black and grey sockets (see photos). The unit then goes through a lighting test, and is packaged for protection. A recreated GM label installed to the upper surface of the cluster indicating its use in a black dash housing is provided and can be affixed with a small amount of rubber cement. Fits application(s) and year(s) indicated above. Specific applications may include Z-28, COPO, Yenko, Baldwin, Dana, Motion cars with or without Super Sport (SS) or Rally Sport (RS) options with a 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder engine. Please refer to GM service and repair literature to confirm specific applicability to your car.
